It is #1 on my Top 10 list of best courses I have ever played and is the best golf course at Bandon Dunes. IMO. About the Author PACIFIC DUNES GOLF COURSE. Designed by Tom Doak and opened in 2001, Pacific Dunes is remarkably different in character and shot making requirements than our other courses. Pacific Dunes doesn't feel like it was built as much as it was discovered. Rippling fairways remain just as they were found and natural bunkers line the landscape as they have for centuries. Trails is probably the best-designed course on the property, even though it is on a much more challenging piece of land. If I had 10 rounds to play, it’d be four on Pacific Dunes, three on Trails, With plenty of great ocean vantage points as well, Bandon Dunes is and will always be a classic.
